THE NEXT ELECTION

The next General Election maybe as soon as June 2009 but more than likely mid 2010.
Gordon Brown will cling-on for as long as he can, for he can surely see a massive defeat in front of him. His only hope is that his rescue plan (To save the world) works sufficiently well enough in the next 6 months for him to call an election, this will coincide with the world economic summit and he may hope that enough good publicity comes from it to give him a fighting chance.
I wouldn’t hold my breath though the chances are he will run over the full-term, see it out to the bitter end, making us all suffer his infernal premiership to the very last moment. He will, at least, go down in history as the most hated Prime Minister of all time!.

Hi John,

Unless I'm very much mistaken, the last UK General Election was in May 2004. The maximum legal length of a UK parliament is 5 years, so the latest the next election can be held is May 2009, even if the parliament runs its full term. Brown doesn't have a say in that maximum date, the Queen (on the advice of her Privy Council) simply dissolves parliament and calls a General Election.

In fact this is exactly what is suppose to happen, we have just got use to letting the government of the day decide the timing of General Election because it suits them (this is not very democratic in my opinion). However this is unfortunately not going to make a lot of difference anyway. The British National Party is in no state to field a full slate of candidates, and we don't have a snow ball in hells chance of getting an MP elected. Under Griffin we simply aren't ready, and we probably never will be if he remains as Chairman/ Dictator.

Nick Griffin has been the leader of the BNP since the summer of 1999, and we are no closer today getting an MP elected than we were 10 years ago. Time is quickly running out for our people.

Chris,
You are quite correct, it should be May 2009 but there are rumours he, Gordon Brown, will call a June election, depending on the polls, but also he may use the World Economic Summit, which is being held in the UK, as an excuse, with the Queen’s authority, to hold-over the election for another 12 months. The legalities of such a proposal are very ambiguous but any such move must have the approval of the Queen.
Chris, I am fully aware of your position regarding Nick Griffin, as I am sure you know mine, I cannot agree with you in that the BNP are no closer to getting an MP than they were 10 years ago. I think the perception people have of the BNP is changing, that is not an accolade to Nick, that is the sheer hard work of the membership and the fact that people are now starting to see through the lies purported by Labour in regards to the BNP.
I sent you an email about two weeks ago, a copy of one I sent to VOC did you not receive it?

Hi John,

No I have not had an email from you. My email address is:

Please resend it.

Brown can't call a June election, after 5 years (2nd May 2009) parliament is automatically dissolved and an election will take place 4 or 5 weeks later. The idea that he will get the OK to extend the life of this parliament is not realistic. As far as I know this has only been allowed during time of war 1939-1945, and even then a General Election was called before the end of the war ie July 1945 (VJ day was mid August 1945).

Have a great Christmas.

Anti-gag - you start your first post with "Unless I'm very much mistaken" - well, there's the clue, really. The last election was May 2005 not 2004, hence the May 2010 potential latest date. (5 years and 3 weeks)

Pedant,
Thank you for sorting that out!.

Dear Pedant,

Yes my mistake, you're quite right it was May 2005. May 2004 was the Euros.

It just seems like we've been talking about a General Election for a couple of years now, just more New Labour panic I guess.

Thanks for that.
